The Finals of the 2025 London Youth Games took place on 29 June at Redbridge Sports and Leisure in North London, bringing together eight borough teams for an exciting day of squash action. The level of play was high, the energy even higher—and the boroughs under the Surrey Squash umbrella more than held their own.

While it was a strong Camden side who ultimately took home the Gold, the Surrey boroughs delivered standout performances.

Sutton, coached by Sam Hodgkins, battled brilliantly to secure the Bronze medal.

Croydon, led by Pete Smith, finished fifth, narrowly beating Lambeth (coached by Marco Spinola) in a play-off match that went right down to the wire.

It’s worth celebrating that three of the final eight teams came from Surrey boroughs—despite only five of the eight eligible boroughs entering. We truly punched above our weight and showcased the talent and team spirit alive in our squash community.

The London Youth Games is a special event that gives non-county players the chance to represent their borough and compete in a wide range of sports. In squash, each team is made up of three boys and two girls in the Under-17 age group, ensuring a balanced and inclusive format.

While the competition was fierce, matches were played in the right spirit throughout. The sportsmanship, respect, and excellent behaviour of all players—on and off court—stood out and added to the day’s success.

Surrey Squash is proud to have supported the borough teams with financial assistance for coaching, and we’re already looking forward to doing the same again in 2026—hopefully with even more boroughs taking part.
