Last Sunday saw a fantastic display of junior squash talent at The Wimbledon Club, where the London Youth Games Qualifiers took place—and Surrey’s boroughs certainly made their mark.

Out of the eight London boroughs under Surrey’s umbrella, five entered teams into the competition. Impressively, three of those—Croydon, Lambeth, and Sutton—secured their spots in the upcoming Finals. At one point, it looked like we might even have seven of the eight boroughs involved—an exciting prospect that shows just how strong the depth of squash is in this part of London.

Unfortunately, Merton and Richmond narrowly missed out despite putting in commendable performances. They’ll no doubt come back stronger next year.

The Finals will be held this coming Sunday at Redbridge in North London, where eight boroughs will go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned London Youth Games champions.

A huge thank you goes out to all the players for their effort and commitment, as well as to their parents, coaches, Team Managers, and Borough Sports Officers. Your support, energy, and enthusiasm are what make events like these so successful.
