Former World Top 30 player joins the Surrey Squash Team

We are delighted to announce that Joe Lee has joined Surrey Squash as Head of Club Development.

Joe has had a stellar career in squash as both a junior and senior player, becoming British Champion at both under 17 and under 19 level.

After turning professional in 2006, Joe went on to win 8 PSA World Tour Titles, including the Oregon Open and achieved a highest World Ranking of 29.

Throughout his playing career Joe has participated in and supported competition in Surrey and is the current captain and number 1 for the New Malden team in Division 1 of the Surrey Cup.

Joe’s primary remit is to engage with clubs and leisure centres throughout the county and south London boroughs to boost participation and increase engagement with the county squash community.

When asked about the task ahead Joe said, “Many clubs and leisure centres in the county have room for growth in their offering of squash and racketball sessions, particularly with juniors, women, and young adults. I plan to support our coaches and volunteers by helping them to achieve the necessary qualifications and providing guidance where needed. I will also help to recruit coaches to the clubs where they are required. The aim is to increase the number of healthy, self-sustaining clubs and leisure centres throughout the county.

Events can be a great way to boost the revenue and profile of venues and I plan to share my experience of running Junior Tournaments, Graded Tournaments and Professional Events to help increase the number of events in the county. It would be great to see a full calendar of well attended events for all levels throughout the county.”
